Maravene Ragon passed away at Whitman Health and Rehab in Colfax on February 5, 2013, two days after her 96th birthday. Born in Whitman County February 3, 1917 to Clarence and Cecil Lathen (Thomas), Maravene graduated from Oakesdale High School in 1934. After attending a year at Cheney Normal School (EWU), she married Bill Ragon September 11, 1936 in Spokane WA. They lived on the family farm together where they raised three children. Maravene always worked hard and was very proud of living on the farm. Her husband Bill passed away in 1998. Maravene loved to spend time tending to her flowers in her garden and always enjoyed a good crossword puzzle. She is survived by her son Michael (Mary) Ragon, and daughters Karen (Don) Ostlund and Susan Ragon, 5 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Maravene was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her sisters Thelma and Francis, brothers Chet and Tommy and her parents. A private graveside service has already been held.
