Margaret Frances "Pegi" Gunn, 90, passed away on August 3, 2013 at home in Pullman, Wash. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date.

Pegi was born on July 16, in Chicago, Illinois, the first child of Richard and Margaret (Binder) Browne. She grew up on the south side of Chicago, where she attended Catholic schools, and graduated from high school. She attended the University of Oklahoma but left college early to enlist in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Pegi served at a recruiting station in her home town of Chicago where she and her friends spent their time off going to Chicago White Sox baseball games.


Upon leaving the navy, Pegi became a flight attendant for United Airlines and moved to California. There she met her future husband, Norman Henry Gunn, who was a pilot for United. They were married on September 17, 1950 in southern California. The couple raised four sons. The family moved to Sonoma County, California in 1962. Pegi was a devoted mother and homemaker, known to her sons' friends as one of the best cooks around.


After her divorce, Pegi settled in Santa Rosa, in Sonoma County, California, in 1972, where she resided until last year. During her time in Sonoma County she was active in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Northern California Thoroughbred Association. During most of her time in Santa Rosa, she resided with her late son Christopher Gunn. Pegi loved to travel; she took many trips including a tour of the Far East and an Alaskan cruise.


Pegi is survived by her sons Richard, Gary, and Tyler, her eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Norman, her brother Robert, and her son Christopher.
