Marjorie Flora Jeffrey, 97 years, passed to Heaven on July 30, 2014 at Ava Place, with her loving family by her side.
Marjorie was born June 11, 1917 in Walla Walla, Washington to Charles and Maude (Peck) Stratton. Her grandparents homesteaded in Pullman in 1877 and later began Stratton Dairy. Marjorie operated a daycare for many children through the years. She moved to Pullman when she was three years old. She attended grades 1-8 at the one room Sunshine School near the original Stratton homestead. She then went on to graduate from Pullman High School. On October 15, 1938 Marjorie and Robert Jeffrey were united in marriage in Pullman, WA and to this union six children were born. She and her husband, Bob, owned and operated the College Hill Bus for many years. When Bob left the computer department at WSU in 1964 to be employed at the University of New Mexico they moved to Albuquerque. In 2006 she moved to Ava, MO to be with her daughter, Barbara. Marjorie was a Christian and she was a member of Pullman Baptist Church until she moved away in 1964. She also served in the church nursery or teaching Sunday school to the 2 and 3 year old children through much of her adult life. She attended First Southern Baptist Church in Ava. She enjoyed being surrounded by and taking care of children. She also liked to work with her hands, crocheting and making things. Her joy was being with her family and especially the grand and great grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 1994, a son Robert Jr. when he was six years old, her three brothers and one sister. Marjorie is survived by her children, Norna Groff and husband Earl, Tonasket, WA, David Jeffrey and wife, Emma, Semmes, AL, Dan Jeffrey and wife, Barbara, Portland, OR, Ricky Jeffrey, Albuquerque, NM, Barbara Wright and husband William, Ava, MO, and Roger Pierce and wife Jan, Vancouver, WA, seventeen grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Marjorie will be held at the Kimball Funeral Home, Pullman, WA on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Pullman City Cemetery.
