Maryann Sharp, 84 passed away Friday, October 21 in Colfax WA. Maryann was born on July 8, 1932 in Colfax, WA to William and Annette Kramlich. She attended Hamilton Grade School and graduated from Colfax High School in 1951. Maryann worked at the Top Notch in Colfax as a waitress and helped with cooking. She worked at St. Ignatius Hospital in Colfax in the business office and at the Whitman hospital as a waitress in the dining room. Maryann married LaVerne Sharp of Garfield on December 17, 1953 at the Colfax First Baptist Church. She was active in church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school classes and served on the flower committee. In 1963 she started working for the United States Department of Conservation in Whitman County, Colfax branch. In 1985 she was awarded the outstanding conservationist by Whitman County. She retired in 1997 after 34 years of service. She was a devoted wife and mother. In 1972 she was awarded the title of Inland Empire Mother of the year in Spokane by various Business Associations after being nominated by her son Ken. Maryann loved to garden, cook and can. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She is survived by her husband LaVerne Sharp of Colfax. One daughter, Kathryn Russ, her husband Mike Russ of Federal Way, WA; daughter-in-law, Tammy Sharp of Rockvale, TN; one sister, Virginia Huber of Colfax; four grandchildren, Michael Sharp of Hendersonville, TN, Derrick McDonald, Hannah McDonald and Hayley Stanley all of Rockvale, TN. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Sharp, her parents William and Annette Kramlich, two brothers, Arnold Kramlich and Edwin Kramlich.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, October 27 at 11:30 a.m. at the Colfax First Baptist Church in Colfax. A graveside service will follow at the Colfax Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday, October 26 from 9 am to 4 pm. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Colfax, WA.
