Obituary

Melvin 'Mel' Hatley, 78, beloved father and devoted husband, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 in Spokane Washington.  He was born October 27, 1935 to Ora Hatley in Pullman Washington. Mel grew up in the Pullman-Moscow area.  On June 3, 1956 he married Maxine Knight in Lewiston Idaho. He worked as a printer for 20 years, then worked and retired from Washington State University as a delivery truck driver. Mel enjoyed his quiet country life at his home near Garfield Washington. Mel you will be missed.

Survivors include his wife Maxine; his five children Jerry, Roger, and Steven Hatley, Tammy DeCapua, and Theresa Bowers; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers Sherman and David Hatley; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Ora and step-mother Nyda Thompson.

A special thank you to the ICU department of Deaconess Hospital in Spokane for their loving care and support.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday May 17, 2014 in the chapel of Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. A reception will follow at the Whitman County Fire District 12 station on West Main in Pullman.
