Obituary

Melvin Wayne Miller, 79, of Malden passed away on April 18, 2014 at Whitman Health & Rehab in Colfax.  Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday May 1, 2014 at the Colfax LDS Church on Almota Road.  A reception will follow in the church social hall.

Melvin was born on December 15, 1934 to Henry & Nora (Conklin) Miller at Okanagan, Washington.  He grew up around the Okanogan area before moving to Kamiah, Idaho where he made his career working in the lumber mill industry as a laborer.  He met Jeanette Sheare and the two were married in Kamiah on July 31, 1971.  They moved to Malden in 1979.

Melvin enjoyed gardening of all kinds including raising vegetables and cultivating flowers.  He was very generous with what he would grow in his garden and would often take baskets of vegetables to those less fortunate who needed them.  He loved his family with all his heart and had a great sense of humor.  He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandkids.  He was slow to anger and quick to forgive and will be missed terribly by his family.

Melvin is survived by his wife Jeanette Miller of Malden; son Tim (Jacqueline) Miller of Malden and adopted son Mark (Cynthia) Campbell of Pine City; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews as well as four siblings.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of choice.
