V. Naoma James, 84, of Pullman, died February 23, 2016 at her home at Bishop Place Retirement Community.
Naoma was born at her grandparent's home Clara (Howard) Richardson and Fred Richardson at Green Hollow outside of Colfax to Thelma (Richardson) Van Tine and G.H. "Hi" Van Tine.
She lived in the Green Hollow area until she was 10 years old when the family moved to Penawawa. Naoma attended Colfax schools except for one year at Penawawa. Naoma graduated from Colfax High School in 1949 where she was active in many school activities.
She married Fred H. James August 25, 1949 in Colfax, WA. They moved to Pullman in 1950 and lived there until her death.
Besides being a homemaker, mother, grandmother she worked as the bookkeeper for the family business – Fred's Refrigeration.
Naoma enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of their activities and events. Birthday parties were particularly fun with the excellent cakes and desserts she made and decorated.
Her interests and hobbies included; fishing, camping, oil painting, cake decorating, crocheting, rock hounding, and card playing.
Naoma is survived by her brother Karl and wife Donna Van Tine of Spokane and daughters Diane Whitman and Karla Dolph with their husbands Bill Whitman and Bill Dolph "the Bills" of Pullman. Grandsons Eli and his wife Shay Whitman of Riverdale, Utah, and Curtis and his wife Kara Whitman of Pullman, Granddaughters Jennifer Dolph of Medina, Ohio and Tamara Grover of Spokane, WA and 8 great grandchildren Scott, Declan, Chloe, River, Olivia, Cordelia, Bjorn and Makenzie.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Fred
