NONA ALICE HOWARD-CRISWELL, 96, of Colfax, WA passed away Sept. 10, 2014 at the Henderson House Adult Family Home in Colfax. Nona was born March 2, 1918 in Dent, Idaho to Thomas & Alice (Clark) Howard. She grew up in Orofino and attended country school in the Orofino area. Following graduation from high school, Nona attended nursing school. She worked in the medical profession as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 70 some years from delivering babies to caring for the elderly. Nona married Oliver "Bob" Criswell who preceded her in death in 1976. Together they had four children. She loved her family very much and they to loved her. Nona enjoyed gardening, flowers and refurbishing dolls to make an extra dollar for the Thrifty Grama's whom she worked with for years. Nona also enjoyed helping others throughout her community. She and Bob made their home in Almota where she loved to walk among the geese and searching for arrowheads. Throwing in a line to catch a fish was always a joy for her as well. Nona so loved all of her caregivers in later years, and called them all her kids both at the Courtyard and Henderson House. She is survived by her four children Beverly Criswell Yates; Bill Criswell (Lona); Judy Criswell Loesch (Richard); Darold "Pete" Criswell; sister Eva Mae Fay; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. The memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Colfax. A graveside service will be held later that afternoon at Riverside Cemetery in Orofino, ID. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax, WA is caring for the family.
