Obituary

Pat Byers, longtime Endicott resident, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, with her family by her side. Patricia June was born on July 5, 1930 in Spokane to Leroy and Ferne Stuhr of Cheney, WA. In high school, she played tennis and was the Spokane County Singles Champion. She began working for the Cheney Grain Growers as a bookkeeper in high school and continued her employment after graduation. Pat married her high school sweetheart, Tom Byers on October 2, 1949 in Cheney, WA. They moved to a ranch outside Pomeroy, WA and began farming with Tom's brother, John. Pat became involved with the Tri-Plex Women's Club and worked on many community service projects. She also served as State President of the Federated Women's Club in Washington.

In 1966, Pat and Tom moved with their two daughters to a ranch outside Winona, WA. They moved to Endicott in 1973. Pat became active in Garden Club and was part of the group that established the Multiflora Gardens at the entrance to the town of Endicott. Pat and Tom joined Trinity Lutheran Church and served the Church and their community faithfully for many years. Pat was the Choir Director, and later served as Community Choir Director for several holiday concerts. She loved music and thoroughly enjoyed singing and directing.

Pat was the First Lady of Endicott for 12 years while Tom served as Mayor. She also was elected to the School Board as a member, and, later, as President. Always community-minded, she participated in the 4th of July celebration in Endicott and baked pies for the annual pie sale.

She loved the WSU Cougars and was an avid Golden State Warrior fan. Her interests were varied and she kept up with technology and the news of the world. To those who knew and loved her, Pat seemed larger than life. She had an unquenchable thirst for life and cherished the many friends she met over the years. Her family will miss her terribly, but her presence in their lives will always be felt.

Pat is survived by two daughters, Jan Ireton (Greg) of Lewiston, Idaho and Lori Wente (Jeff) of West Linn, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and by her parents, Leroy and Ferne.
