IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Lynette
Kleinsmith
August 30, 1965 – March 29, 2024
Patricia Lynette (Malone) Kleinsmith passed away on March 29, 2024, following a seizure at her home in Pullman Washington. She was 58 years old. Patty was born August 30th, 1965, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She graduated from Colton High School in Colton, Washington in 1984. After graduation Patty and her younger sister Chris moved around the country. They eventually moved to Casper, Wyoming. In 1992, she married Robert Kleinsmith (deceased). Patty gave birth to three sons, Garret Kleinsmith of Pullman, Washington, Brian Kleinsmith of Yankton, South Dakota and Isaiah Micka of Pullman, Washington. Patty met her partner "Will" and moved to Pullman, Washington in 2018.
Supporting (and worrying about) her 3 sons was just one of Patty's passions. Patty also was a cat lover and cared for many stray cats, she also loved the outdoors, gardening, scary movies, cooking healthy food, fantasizing about life in Elizabethan England and the music of Carol King, Joni Mitchel and ELO.
Her eldest son Garret, often referred to his mom as "The Cat Lady" due to her propensity of taking in strays. Never to turn away a wayward kitty, Patty nurtured her cats with the same love she bestowed on her children.
As a child, Patty was introduced to fishing by her late father Richard Malone and her green thumb derived from her love of the earth. Whether it was working in a greenhouse, making dried flower arrangements for holiday gatherings or maintaining an annual garden, Patty loved her time outdoors and getting her hands dirty. Indeed, just two days before her untimely death she remarked how the daffodils were blooming early this year. "It's going to be an early summer." she noted. It turned out for Patty that the early blooms marked the end of winter.
Patty is survived by her three sons, her sister Christine Moore of Fort Collins Colorado, her brother Michael Malone and wife Heather of Casper Wyoming, her stepsister Melissa Breck of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, mother Carol Breck, stepfather Dennis Breck, her partner Dr. Franklin "Will" Hill of Pullman, Washington and six nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers (which she loved) please make any donations to the Whitman County Washington Humane Society- to help care for the lost cats she never met.
