Obituary

Patricia Mae Zuger, long-time Colfax resident, passed away March 20, 2014 at her home in Colfax. She was 78. Pat was born February 10, 1936 in Pasco, the oldest child of George Raymond and H. Bernita (Williams) Wehe. She grew up in the Eureka Flat area near the Snake River and attended schools in Eureka, Walla Walla and Prescott where she graduated high school. Following her marriage November 14, 1954 to Fred E. (Fritz) Zuger the couple made their home in Waitsburg. In 1962 they moved to a farm just north of Dusty in Whitman County. They farmed for many years and remained active even after moving to Colfax in 1986. Pat worked for many years at the Whitman County Library. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Athenaeum Club. She was a former member of the Colfax Golf Club, the Order of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile and had held offices in these organizations over the years. Pat always strove to improve the quality of life in the communities in which she lived. She enjoyed her family, her friends, golfing and traveling in their RV. She is survived by her husband, Fred E. Zuger; her son Robert and wife Kathy, her son Scott and wife Heidi and her daughter Susan Riebold and her husband Tom. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Desiree & Brian Elkin, Joseph & Brandi Zuger, Samantha Zuger, Nichole & David Zuger-Cheney, Treavor Zuger, Stephani & Levi Dennis, Shane Riebold, Josephine Riebold; and three great-grandchildren, Jack & Brock Elkin and Kristoffer Cheney. Pat leaves two sisters, Dorothy R. Mech of Pasco, and Kay Riebold and husband Stan of Endicott and her closest cousin, Gary Wehe of Maui, Hawaii. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernita in 1980 and George in 1985. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 26 th at 1:30 P.M. at the Colfax United Methodist Church. Private family burial was in the Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens at Walla Walla. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society, Colfax United Methodist Church, or Friends of Hospice.
