Obituary

Philip James “Phil” Cochran, 55, of Pullman, Washington, passed away at his home on April 24, 2026. Phil was born on March 21, 1971, in Moscow, Idaho, to James and Laura (Wager) Cochran. He spent his life in the Pullman area and was deeply connected to the community he called home.

Phil grew up in Pullman and graduated from Pullman High School in 1991. Known for his kind heart and easygoing nature, Phil was the kind of person everyone liked—someone who made others feel welcome and at ease. He had a genuine way of connecting with people, rarely hesitating to offer a warm smile, a listening ear, or one of his famously good hugs.

After high school, Phil attended ITT Tech in Spokane for a time before returning to Pullman, where he went to work at Perfection Tire. During his 12 years there, Phil built lasting friendships and earned the respect of coworkers through his reliability and good spirit. He later moved to Colorado and worked in the oil fields before ultimately returning home to Pullman. There, he began working as an assembler at CCI Ammunition Company in Lewiston, Idaho.

Phil enjoyed sports and had a lifelong love of cars and trucks. He also treasured time spent outdoors, particularly hunting, which allowed him to enjoy the quiet and beauty of nature. Whether at work, at home, or with friends, Phil was known as someone who showed up for others with kindness and authenticity.

Phil is survived by his sister, Gwen Cochran of Tacoma, Washington, and his beloved niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Laura Cochran, and his sister, Theresa.

A celebration of Phil’s life will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest with his mother at Pullman’s IOOF Cemetery. Corbeill Funeral Home of Pullman, Washington, has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.corbeillfuneralhomes.com.
