Phillip Henry Taylor, 76, long time area resident, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at his home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 29th at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ – Latter Day Saints in Pullman. Viewing will be at 9:30 am in the Relief Society room. Vault interment will follow at the Albion Cemetery. Phillip was born October 17, 1934 in Walla Walla, Washington to Caldwell George Taylor and Thelma (Poulsen) Taylor. Following his graduation from Walla Walla High School he moved to Arizona. Phillip enlisted in the U.S. Army and served overseas during the Korean Conflict. He was a mechanic and among many other duties was responsible for the operation of several generators. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Arizona and then traveled the Southern States as part of a church mission. He moved to Warden, Washington where he farmed for a few years. He met Marva Dee Fairbanks there and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple October 6, 1964. They sold their farm in 1966 and moved to Moses Lake where Phillip attended Big Bend Community College for mechanics. They lived briefly in Othello before moving to Pullman, Washington in 1968. Phillip worked for Washington State University as a waste collector and operator of the incinerator. Phillip and Marva moved to Colfax a short while later and their three children all completed school in Colfax. He retired in 1985 and they moved to Dayton, Washington. He was a member of the LDS Church in both Pullman and Colfax. He liked to build things and was an accomplished carpenter. He loved to spend time tinkering at his home. They moved back to Pullman two years ago to be closer to family. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marva Dee, at their home; 3 children, Celestea Marie Taylor, Pullman, Phillip Caldwell Taylor of Albion and Frank Boyd Taylor of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren; his siblings, Delores Ray of Gilbert, AZ., Clifford Taylor of Cheney, WA, Celestia Ordaz of Tempe, AZ and John Taylor of Phoenix, AZ.
