Ralph Verdell Walker

Funeral services for Ralph V. Walker, 100, long time resident and farmer in Winona, will be Tuesday, January 11th at 11:00 am in the chapel of Bruning Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Hinds will officiate and vault interment will follow at the Colfax Cemetery. He will lie in state at the funeral home Friday and Monday from 9 to 5. Mr. Walker died January 5th, 2011 at his home at Community Pride Senior Living in St. John. Born August 28th, 1910 at Cortez, Colorado to Orsen W. Walker and Maude E. Baker, he moved with his family to Espanola, WA where his father ran a dairy, they then moved to the Winona area where they had a small wheat farm. He met Eileen F. Walker and they married December 16, 1933 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They spent a short time in Kellogg, Idaho before returning to the ranch at Winona. They farmed together all of their married life until his retirement. Mr. Walker enjoyed farming, making hook rugs and camping. He was an avid Square Dancer and was a member of several clubs including the Pullman Frolickers and Krazy 8's of Spokane. He was a 50 year member of the Washington State Grange. Surviving are his Son and Daughter-in-law Jerry and Molly Walker of Endicott; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Eileen Walker, a son Verdell Walker, a sister Loey May Bartleson, two brothers Earl W. and Cecil N. Walker and a great-grandson Justin Gering.
