Randy Nelson, 74, of Palouse, WA, passed away August 27, 2022, at his Palouse home. Randy was born August 25, 1948, in Colfax, WA, to John and Marcia (Parker) Nelson. Randy grew up in Rosalia, WA, and graduated from Rosalia High School in 1966. He attended Columbia Basin Junior College and later Eastern Washington University, where he met Irene Ballard. They married in Colville, WA, on June 24, 1973. Together, they built a log home and lived in Colville while Randy worked for the Boise Cascade Corp. for 15 years. In 1990, the family moved to Pullman where Randy studied at Washington State University, receiving his bachelor's degree in forestry and master's degree in business administration, graduating summa cum laude for both degrees. After graduation, they returned to Colville where he had a career in forestry with the Washington Department of Natural Resources for 20 years. Following his retirement, they moved to Palouse, Washington, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Randy enjoyed managing his properties, restoring antique cars, and outdoor activities, especially boating and spending time hiking and exploring new places. Randy was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Irene at their Palouse home; his daughter Ruth Nelson of Palouse; three sons and their wives – Ethan and Jessica Nelson of Albion, Adam and Amy Nelson of Deary, and Eli and Kimberly Nelson of Pullman; sister Andrea Widman; two brothers – Eric and Tim Nelson; and his six grandchildren – Collin, Nathan, Gabriel, Lucas, Erika, and Emma. Randy's parents preceded him in death. He will be laid to rest at the Colfax Cemetery in a private family service. Corbeill Funeral Home of Pullman has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
