Obituary

Rena Joanne (Osterlund) Worthy peacefully passed away on May 3, 2025 in

Pullman, Washington, and will be lovingly remembered by her family and all

who knew her.

Joanne was born on April 10, 1932, in Potlatch, Idaho. She graduated from

Potlatch High School and briefly attended the University of Idaho before

reconnecting with Jerry Worthy, an acquaintance from Palouse. They were

happily married for 71 years. She worked as a secretary in the English

Department at Washington State University for a time, before taking her

secretarial talents to Edison Elementary School and ultimately Lincoln Middle

School in the Pullman School District, where she spent the rest of her working

career. Everyone knew the parking space right by the front door of L.M.S., simply

marked "Reserved," was for Joanne Worthy, the welcoming face greeting all

who entered the school. After her retirement, Joanne volunteered for Pullman

Regional Hospital, and spent time with her grandchildren and great-

grandchildren.

Joanne is survived by her three children Michael, Karen, and Jeffrey (Margot), six

grandchildren (Derek, Heather [Keith], Rachel [Rob], John, William, and Emily)

and three great grandchildren (Kristen, Lily, and Saiorse).  She was preceded in

death by a matter of weeks by her husband, Willis Gerald "Jerry" Worthy.

Joanne lived a life of love and nurturance, and will be forever remembered by

those whose lives she touched.

Joanne will be laid to rest with her husband at the Pullman City Cemetery.  Corbeill Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements.
