March 22, 1955 – April 9, 2019
Robert D. (Rob) Hampton, 64, of Pullman, passed away April 9, 2019 at his Pullman home following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. Rob was born March 22, 1955 in St. Louis, MO to Arvol & Doris (Wulfert) Hampton. Being raised in an Air Force family Rob grew up all around the world. In January of 1975 Rob began his service to his country serving in the US Air Force. He was a firefighter while in the Air Force and in August of 1978 was honorably discharged. Rob married Patricia "Patty" McKenna on Oct. 25, 1975 in Rosamond, CA. He attended college in Lancaster, CA where Rob studied Fire Science. They moved to Pullman in 1991 and have made Pullman their home since that time. Rob's career as a custodian through the years included owning Rogers Cleaning Service for 20 years, working for Staff Pro, R.A.I. and most recently the University of Idaho. Family and community was the framework of Rob's life. He was a member of the Pullman Moose Lodge Family Center, serving in every possible capacity through the years. He enjoyed bowling, and was a member of many area leagues. The outdoors was a place he found great pleasure and enjoyed fishing and being with family. Rob is survived by his wife Patty at the family home in Pullman; a son Robert Hampton, Jr. (Amy) of Pullman; a daughter Jennifer (Hampton) Edmiston (Evan) of Marysville, WA; his siblings Sharon Almaguer of Fairbury, NE; John Fleck; Alan Fleck; Tony Fleck; Joe Fleck; Cindy Calene & Travis Hildreth; his grandchildren Chelsea Grant, Jakob & Dean Hampton and Caitlin Stephens and one great grandson Ryker Grant. In addition to his parents Rob was preceded in death by a brother Bill Fleck. A memorial celebration is being planned for May 18, 2019 from 2-5 PM at the Gymnasium at the Gladish Cultural and Events Center in Pullman, WA. Kimball Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to Pullman Moose Lodge #943.
