Robert E. "Bob" Kerben, 69, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many, left this earth to travel home to Jesus on January 8, 2015 after a long struggle with multiple health issues. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Albion Community Church. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Robert was born on May 11, 1945 in Brainerd, Minnesota to Willard and Virginia (Doty) Kerben. He moved to Spokane in 1955 with his family and attended schools in the West Valley school district until his graduation from West Valley High School. He attended Spokane Community College and graduated from the Culinary School of Baking. His career was spent working in Spokane at Vern's Pies and Albertsons and in Pullman at Rosauer's and Dissmores IGA. He concluded his career as bakery manager at Rosauer's in Moscow. Ill health forced him to retire in June 2005.
Bob and Rebecca "Becky" Prochnow were united in marriage on September 16, 1967 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Spokane. They were blessed with two children Tonya born in 1968 and Rob born in 1971. Bob ad many other "adopted children" throughout this life. He relished the time he spent with family and friends. Bob enjoyed gunsmithing, hunting, fishing and spending time with his "gun buddies" as well as many fishing & hunting trips with his son, grandson, family and friends. Bob especially enjoyed the yearly fall trips to Cannon Beach, Oregon. Bob and Becky had the privilege of taking four cruises before his health worsened including Alaska, the Mexican Riviera and Hawaii.
Bob never met a stranger and was always ready to talk about his Savior. He was an active member in the Albion Community Church where he served as a church board member for many years and also assisted the church in many other capacities.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife Becky at the family home in Albion; daughter Tonya Hankins of Albion; son Rob (Gayle) Kerben of Prescott, Arizona; grandsons Tyler Hankins of Denver, Colorado and Russell Hankins of Albion. Bob is also survived by his "adopted daughters" Debbie Annett and Kristen Trott as well as sisters Kathy (Scott) Sir of Newman Lake, Washington and June Davis of Spokane; sister in law Priscilla (Joe) Roberts of Aloha, Oregon as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and an uncle.
Memorial contributions in Bob's honor are suggested to the Albion Community Church, PO Box 114 in Albion or to the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation, 840 SE Bishop Suite 200 in Pullman. Kimball Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting with arrangement details.
