Robert "Stan" Yarbrough, 68, died May 27, 2017, of complications from Acute Myeloid Leukemia with his family by his side at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.
A memorial service and reception is planned for Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho at 10 AM, with a graveside service at the Lacrosse Cemetery in Lacrosse, Washington at 3 PM, friends and family are welcome at both locations.
Stan was born November 10, 1948, in Salina, Kansas to Lawrence and Helen Yarbrough. His father was in the United States Air Force and Stan lived with his family all over the United States before settling in Tacoma Washington. He graduated from Clover Park High School in 1966.
Stan served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and then earned his Bachelor's degree in political science and sociology from Central Washington University in 1973. During college he met and married Claudia Heaton of Hay, Washington, a teacher, and then started a career in banking in Vancouver, Washington. They were blessed with two children, Summer and Zachary. In 1984, Stan and his family relocated to Coeur d'Alene. Stan completed his Master's in Business Administration from Gonzaga University in 1992 and continued banking in Coeur d'Alene, Spokane, Garfield, Washington and Oakland, California before retiring in 2013 after 40 years.
Stan was passionate about children, volunteering with Little League and Junior Achievement. He also, served with many community organizations supporting human rights and business development. Stan was an avid skier, golfer, and traveler. He and Claudia traveled all over the North America, Europe, and the Caribbean making many friends along the way throughout their life. Beside his family, Stan loved a great glass of wine and collected bottles during his travels.
Stan is survived by his wife, Claudia; his two children and their spouses, Summer and Travis Clovis, Zachary and Shanna Yarbrough: his 3 grandchildren, Brock, Jackson and Brady; his brother Doug Yarbrough (Gladys); Sister Lauren Russell (Bill) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen Yarbrough.
