Obituary

Longtime Pullman area resident and farmer Robert W. Young, 89, passed away on November 2, 2014. A Celebration of Life reception will be held at the Banyan's on the Ridge Pavilion on Thursday November 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.

Robert was born March 4, 1925 in Spokane, Washington to Thelma Faught. At age two, she put him in an orphanage and he was later adopted by Wade & Ruth (Hungate) Young of Pullman. Robert attended Pullman schools and graduated from Pullman High School in 1942.

Except for five years when Robert worked for a road construction company, he spent his entire life farming in the Ewartsville area. He retired from full time farming in 2004. Robert married Iva Dell Davis of Johnson, Washington on January 17, 1944 in Asotin. They were married for 58 years and had four children. Iva Dell passed away in 2002.

Robert is survived by his children Sunny Young of Kennewick, Barbara Young of Kennewick, Arnie Young of LaGrande, Oregon and Larry Young of Pullman; cousins Hilda King of Houston, Texas and Marjorie Way of Watsonville, California; grandchildren Steve Young of Spokane, Shad Smith of Richland, Darcy Kooiker of Issaquah, Dana Rodman of Portland, Oregon, CJ Young of Colfax and Jesse Young of Pullman. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.

Robert loved WSU sports, specifically women's basketball, so memorial contributions in his honor are suggested to the Cougar Athletic Fund for the benefit of the Women's Basketball program. Kimball Funeral Home & Crematory of Pullman has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
