Obituary

Rodd Alan Perkins, Colfax resident, passed away May 16, 2026 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. He was 71. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Rodd was born December 21, 1954 in Muncie, Indiana to Carroll and JoAnn Ford Perkins. He grew up in Indiana; the second oldest of four children in the Perkins home. Rodd graduated from Burris High School in 1973 and went on to attend Ball State University for a couple of years. Following in his father’s footsteps; Rodd enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a radioman. Most of his deployment was in Hawaii before he was honorably discharged in 1977.

He moved to Torrance, California where he worked for the Xerox Company as a manager. Rodd later worked in medical sales and called on doctors’ offices and health care facilities. He moved to Carson City, Nevada and later met Liz Keesey who was working in a dental office in California. After numerous sales calls to try and sell them some dental supplies it finally became apparent to most that he was really just calling to talk to Liz. They married May 19, 1990 in Orange, California. They made their home in Carbon Canyon, California with Rodd’s two young children and before long they had added two more.

The family enjoyed boating trips on Lake Mohave near Bullhead City, Arizona. Rodd loved to play cards and board games with his family and they enjoyed a few trips to Costa Rica. He also liked to go camping and to garden.

The Perkins family moved to Colfax, Washington to be closer to their daughter who was beginning college at WSU in Pullman. Rodd was able to work from home before he retired in 2023. He loved working with his tractor on his property and getting to know all of his neighbors in their Prune Orchard neighborhood. Visits from the grandkids were never complete without him giving rides on his tractor or gator.

Rodd is survived by his wife; Liz, at their home in Colfax; 4 children; Michelle (Ben) Smith, En Cinitas, CA., Justin Perkins, Bend, OR., Mikayla (Andrew Andersen) Perkins, Kent, WA., and Cody Perkins, Colfax; by 5 grandchildren; and by his brother, Todd (Minnie) Perkins of Eudora, AR., and sisters, Carol (Bill) Rushmore of Madison, WI., and Pam (Will) Eavey of Alexandria, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
