"MECHANIC BY TRADE, FARMER BY HEART" Rodney "Butch" A. Peringer, life long Oakesdale resident, passed away suddenly on March 18, 2013 after being flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane from his home. He was 68. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 23rd at 11:30 A.M. in the Oakesdale Cemetery. Pastor Erik Buhl will officiate. Rodney was born February 10, 1945 in Spokane to George and Dorothy (Norton) Peringer. He grew up on the family farm near Oakesdale and graduated from Oakesdale High School in 1963. Butch loved farming and spent as much time as he possibly could working the farm. He married Linda Sayers on May 6, 1972 at Oakesdale. They had a large family that kept Butch very busy and entertained. In addition to farming for Peringer Enterprises, he worked for Gardner-Smith in Oakesdale and was a self-employed mechanic. He was extremely talented and was known as the "carburetor King" for his ability to fix nearly any carburetor. He has been the caretaker of the Oakesdale Cemetery since 2000. He was a big Nascar fan and loved race cars. He also liked airplanes of any type and size and during a family trip this past summer Butch was able to crawl over, under and through many airplanes in museums around Florida. For him; it was the trip of a lifetime. In younger years he was a member of the Oakesdale Jay-Cee's. He also enjoyed wood-working and guns. He is survived by his wife Linda at their Oakesdale home; 7 children, Tammy & Dave Massingill, Lynetta & Dennis Bigness, Larry Peringer, Tad Peringer, Robin & Denise Peringer, Audra & Carl Blank and Lori & Dan Gerber; grandchildren Christine (Keith), RJ, Brian (Alyssa), Christina (Keith), Christopher, Anna, Jenny, Shelby, Kelsy, Brandon, LJ, Emily (Waldo), Jaci, Jamie, Abbey, Sadie and Tad; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Sam (Barbara Peringer) and Paul Peringer. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. The family suggests memorial gifts be given to the McCoy Museum project in Oakesdale.
