Roger Allan Irwin, 87, of Pullman, died Oct. 3, 2016 at his Pullman home. Roger's family will greet friends at a visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9 at the Kimball Funeral Home in
Pullman. A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Oct.10, 2016 at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA. Roger was born March 24, 1929 in Clearfield, PA to John & Joshephine (Rodgers) Irwin. He spent his childhood in Clearfield and later attended high school and gunsmithing school in Philadelphia. It was there that his passion for guns began. Roger served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was part of a Sherman Tank crew. Following his honorable discharge Roger returned to Pennsylvania and began his family with Joyce Bozman (later divorced). The family moved west settling in Pullman in 1957. Roger worked for the phone company for a time until beginning his career with the Washington State University Police Department in 1961. As a police officer, he honorably served the university and Pullman communities until his retirement in 1988. Roger enjoyed and collected guns throughout his life. He appreciated both his families and time spent with all of them. Roger is preceded in death by his son Mark and is survived by his daughter Diane (Ken) Howell; grandson Jake; dearest friend Nancy Reittinger and her daughters Meme (Mike) Ostrom & Laura Reittinger; and Nancy's grandchildren Makayla, Makenna, Emmakate, David & Joshua.
