Roland C. Cook, lifelong Endicott resident, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Whitman Hospital in Colfax. He was 84. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 2nd at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott with burial following at the Endicott Cemetery. Pastor Philip Misner will officiate. Viewing will be Friday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 at the funeral home. Roland was born July 5, 1926 in Colfax to Alex and Marie (Bafus) Cook. He grew up in Endicott and graduated from high school there. Roland enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1944-1946 as a data processor near Pearl Harbor at Hawaii. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to Endicott and was re-acquainted with his high school sweetheart. He married Lorraine Scheuerman December 24, 1947. They lived for a short time in Wallace, Idaho where Roland operated a gas station. The family then moved back to Endicott and Roland purchased the Shell bulk plant. After several years he purchased the Shell Service Station in town as well. In 1977 a new station was built on the site. Roland retired around 1990 and he and Lorraine spent several years travelling. They especially liked to visit Hawaii and Las Vegas. Roland also loved to go to auctions. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by a daughter, Carol Larson, Endicott; 6 grandchildren, Chris, Karla, Tim, Emily, Jeremy and Courtney; 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine in 2002 and by his son Clifford in 2000. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Endicott Cemetery. On-line guest book is at www.bruningfuneralhome.com
