Rose Mary (Brown)

February 27, 1935 – May 10, 2022

Rosie was born on February 27, 1935 in North Dakota, to Donald and Ellen (Roach) Brown. She grew up with her eight brothers and sisters and lived where ever there was work to be found. She married Kenneth Callaway, September 7, 1955 in Albion and they made their home in Spokane. They raised their three daughters along with all the "extra" kiddos/people, that needed a place to belong. Rosie had a passion for kids. She was active in Girl Scouting for many years even after her own girls were grown. She at one point even had a day care in her home. After Kenny retired, they bought "the Ranch" up near Chattaroy and enjoyed the quiet and the wildlife, until moving back to the Colfax area again in 2008.

Rosie loved spending time with family, camping, walking on the ocean beach collecting sand dollars, feeding her birds, gardening, playing cards, puzzles, old movies and her grandkids. She spent many hours working on genealogy and dragging Kenny, along with her to a million cemeteries, to find missing people in the family tree. She loved to sing praise songs even to the end. She was an amazing prayer warrior especially for her siblings (who had not found forgiveness in the Lord) and all those she loved. Rose is survived by her three daughters; Jeannie (Ron) Dowers of Deer Park, WA, Pamela (Wayne) Bergey of Colfax, WA, and Patricia (Carl) Boyd of Spokane Valley, WA; eight grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren and three brothers and three sisters and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Rosie's last years were spent with her loving family at Sunshine Peak Home, where she was loved and cared for when we didn't have the tools to do that for her. She became Mom and Grandma to a whole new family and touched them, in all the amazing ways she touched all of us. We're forever grateful for their loving care for her. And for the understanding, when someone wanted to know something about Mom, and there were no words… they would have to shrug, just like us and say, "It's Rosie!"

Thank you for all for helping us celebrate this woman who touched so many, believed so strongly and loved so fiercely. An amazing life; Rose Mary Brown Callaway.

Matthew 25:23

"His Lord said to him, 'well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over the few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.'"
