She served as a nursing preceptor and mentor to students learning to become a nurse. She was honored for her dedication to students and lives with several Nurse of the Year awards. Her passion and joy was loving and caring for others and her role as a nurse allowed her to share her compassion every day.
Ruby was a member of the Church of the Nazarene since her teen years. She served on the Church Board, Women's Ministry and Missions Councils, and kitchen crew for weekly and special events. Ruby served on three Work & Witness mission trips to Honduras.
Some of her favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends, collecting cookbooks and testing new recipes, antiquing, flower gardening, embroidering, riding motorcycle with her husband, and walking. One of her major achievements was completing the Susan G. Komen 60-mile breast cancer walk in honor of her two daughters who are breast cancer survivors.
