RUBY ALENE McDONALD, 85, longtime Pullman, WA resident, passed away May 20, 2015 at Bishop Place Assisted Living in Pullman. Ruby was born Dec. 5, 1929 in Custer, South Dakota to Guy & Lillian (List) Wickard. Following the death of her mother when she was 12 years old, Ruby lived in Lafayette, California and later in Polson, Montana where she graduated from high school. Ruby met Jack McDonald in the seventh grade in Polson, and they were married on Aug. 9, 1950 in Bremerton, WA. They moved to Pullman in 1958 where they have made their home ever since. Ruby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, taking great pride in raising her family. Ruby also worked as the bookkeeper at the family's Burgerville and A&W restaurants in Pullman through the years. Ruby was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and her faith was always an important part of her life. She was a member of the church's Altar Society for many years and always could be found helping in the life of Sacred Heart Parish. Ruby loved to be outside whenever the Palouse weather would allow. She so appreciated many outdoor activities, especially caring for her flowers. Ruby is survived by her loving husband Jack; her daughter Candy (David) Barnett of Gresham, OR; her sons Bob (Christine) of Tillamook, OR, and Bill (Cindy) of Big Fork, MT; one sister Helen Hinek; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by a son Jack McDonald in 1998 as well as an infant son, Michael. The Rosary/Vigil Service will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday, May 27th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 400 NE Ash St., Pullman, WA. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Sacred Heart. Graveside services will follow at the Pullman Cemetery.
