Sandra Delayne Howard

July 19, 1946 – January 29, 2024

Sandra Delayne Howard, 77, daughter of Leonard and Doris (Nevdahl) Davies, passed away on January 29th after a long illness at Avalon Care Center at Northpointe in Spokane, WA.

Sandi was born on July 19, 1946, in Salem, Oregon. She grew up in Yakima and graduated from Davis High School in 1964. Sandi attended Washington State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in public health. While attending WSU, she met and eventually married Garry Vibber.  Sandi and Garry were later divorced but remained friends throughout their lives—always working as a team to raise their only child, a daughter.

On January 3, 1998, Sandi married the love of her life, Stanley Howard.  For 26 years they made a home together—first in Pullman, briefly in Seattle and then finally retiring to Spokane.  Sandi was a very bright and talented career woman.  She worked for Washington State University from 1973 to 2001, eventually retiring from her position as Executive Assistant to VP for Business Affairs.  Sandi had a bright mind but, sadly, often struggled with her physical and mental health.  We, as a family, want to remember the good years when Sandi enjoyed camping, boating, snow skiing and spending time with friends and her beloved pets.

Sandi is survived by her daughter Christa Nielsen; her stepdaughters Angela and Amy; her brother Les (Margaret) Davies; and her two grandchildren, Trent and Ruby. Sandi was preceded in death by her husband Stan, her parents and her sister, Virginia. No public services will be planned. Sandi will be laid to rest with her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane, Washington. Corbeill Funeral Home, Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements.
