IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon Kay
Meldrum
July 21, 1936 – April 22, 2025
Sharon Kay Meldrum, born on July 21, 1936, in Megrath, Alberta, Canada, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 22, 2025, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She was a loving mother, dedicated volunteer, and cherished friend.
Sharon moved to the United States with her mother Yvonne to Spokane, WA when in her mid-teens. She started a family and eventually moved to Decorah, Iowa and later, despite the challenges she faced, she courageously packed up her three children and drove across the country from Iowa to Idaho to be closer to family. Her greatest joy in life was raising her three sons, and she often said that watching them grow and find their own paths was her most fulfilling accomplishment.
Sharon worked at Washington State University for 25 years before retiring. In her retirement, she found joy in traveling with the members of the Pullman Senior Center, playing bingo, cards, and board games with her friends at Regency Pullman. She also enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, and playing electronic games.
Known for her grounded nature, Sharon never let the little things upset her. She provided her children with the freedom to explore their own interests and supported them unconditionally. Her kindness extended beyond her family; she volunteered at the hospital and senior center, and served on the HOA of her condominium, always looking for ways to contribute to her community.
Sharon is preceded in death by her mother, Yvonne Clark of Palouse, WA, and her son, Brian Ulen of San Francisco, CA. She is survived by her sons Scott Ulen of Auburn, WA, and Neal Ulen and his wife Amy of Lacey, WA. Her legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.
The family invites you to attend her interment of ashes at the Pullman City Cemetery at 2pm on Friday, April 25, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hospice of North Idaho or the Pullman Senior Center in her name.
