Shawn Shay Olson, 43, a lifelong resident of Colfax, passed away at his home November 30, 2014 of natural causes. No public services are planned at this time. Shawn was born June 20, 1971 in Colfax to Melvin Donald and Sharon (Bafus) Olson. He attended school in Colfax where he enjoyed wrestling and being on the swim team. During his teen-age years Shawn worked as a lifeguard at the Colfax swimming pool. He learned to play pool at his dad's tavern when he was a young boy. An avid pool shark, Shawn competed in a regional pool tournament held in Seattle and had also competed locally several times. He liked to construct things out of "legos". Over the years he worked as a cook and bartender at the Hyde Out in Colfax. Shawn underwent a kidney transplant at age 29. He is survived by his daughter Jazmyn Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 2 grandchildren, Angel and Addyson; his brother Mel (Brenda) Olson of Cheney and by his grandmother, Pearl Bafus in Colfax.
