Sheila Clare Holbrook, Colfax native, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. She was 85. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 21st at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Onecho Cemetery. Sheila was born January 23, 1932 in Colfax to Chester Irving and Juanita C. Magee Holbrook. She spent her early childhood in Colfax and from the age of 7 has been living at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake in a facility for the profoundly disabled. Sheila was active in Special Olympics. She liked to work at a little store in Medical Lake known as "Chappy's" and loved to sort and pick out clothes there. She liked music of all kinds and loved to dance. Sheila liked farm animals of all kinds, especially horses. Known by her siblings as "sissy", Sheila will be missed by her sister, Kathleen (Carroll) Mitchell of Baker City, Oregon, a brother, Patrick (Virginia) Holbrook of Spokane, sister Penny (Russ) Gay of Colfax, and brother Gregory (Ann) Holbrook of Garfield, Washington as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother David Lee and by a sister, Cynthia Hughes in 2016. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Onecho Cemetery.
