Obituary

Susan M. Hart, 60, Steptoe resident, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Whitman Hospital in Colfax. Memorial Services will be Saturday, October 18th at 1:00 at the Catalyst Church (Hillcrest Campus) in Colfax. Susan was the oldest of four children; born December 23, 1953 in Fremont, California to Ernest and Mary (Sage) Butler. She grew up in California and graduated in Newark, California in 1972. In 1978 she moved to Pe Ell, Washington where she worked as a school bus driver and also in the local cannery. She was married to Michael Patton and she kept busy as a mother to their young family. She and Michael divorced after fifteen years of marriage. She moved to Alaska in 1992 where she cleaned bunkhouses for the fishermen in Dutch Harbor. She loved wolves, liked Indian jewelry and turquoise, always liked to collect angels and dream catchers and she enjoyed all kinds of music. Her family also remembers her fondness for the "Farmville" game on Facebook. Susan moved to St. John, Washington in 1995 and to Steptoe in 1998. She worked as a cook and waitress at the Wheel Inn for several years before it closed and then worked as a clerk at the Steptoe Friendly Mart. Susan is survived by her children; Jennifer Patton of Tacoma, WA, Allen Patton, University Place, WA, Edward Patton, Steptoe, and Sean Hart of Rockford, WA; her mother Mary Manning of Livermore, CA; 2 brothers, Tracy and Michael Butler and a sister, Sherri Butler, all living in California.
