Obituary

Sylvan “Syl” Rimbey passed from this life of 86 years to his eternal home early Sunday morning, July 12, 2026. Born in Walla Walla, WA to Cloella and Orval Rimbey, he served in the Navy after graduating from Walla Walla High School. He had three sons with his wife of thirty-two years, Patricia “Patty” (Reeves) Rimbey. Following his service in the Navy, Syl was employed as a fireman for the Walla Walla Fire Department, where he made many friends and became the subject of fun and lively stories. In his younger years, he enjoyed motorcycle riding and boating with friends and family, and was active in the Nazarene Church.

Ready for a change of scenery, Syl moved to Alaska with Patty and their three sons. He started his electrical business which would be his chosen profession for many years. As an electrician, he helped build and remodel a number of Nazarene churches in Alaska, California, and Washington. His profession brought him to Colfax where he would work for his nephews until his retirement.

After the death of his wife, Patty, in 1998, Syl struggled to find contentment in life for several decades until he met Lori Eldridge. They were married after Syl recovered from Covid, and enjoyed several years together until Lori’s death in 2024.

As a senior, Syl attended Colfax First Baptist Church where he relished fellowship and potlucks. His legacy includes his three sons, Steve (Kari), John (Sherry), and Andy (Kelly), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. There are no public services planned at this time.
