IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Theodore A
Bohlmann
July 27, 1937 – August 29, 2021
Theodore A. Bohlmann, 84, of Colfax, WA passed away August 29, 2021, at Whitman Medical Center in Colfax from natural causes. Ted was born July 27, 1937, in Minnesota to Albert & Ruby (Knapp) Bohlmann. In 1955 he joined the US Marine Corp 1 st Marine Recon Battalion, 1 st Marine Division where he achieved Sharpshooter status as well as Lance Corporal. He was honorably discharged in 1959. Ted returned to Minnesota, marrying, and settling in Colfax, WA in 1966. He joined the Operating Engineers Union in 1959 and worked most major Highway and Dam construction projects in the Pacific Northwest including the Hanford Super Conductor project as a heavy equipment operator. Ted later started Colfax Construction Company, which he operated until his retirement. In the early 1980's he served two terms on the Colfax City Council and was always civic minded especially during the Mount St. Helens eruption where he opened his home and donated his time and equipment for the ash removal helping his neighbors and community. After retirement he moved to Alaska and worked on local and state road projects. He believed in standing up for oneself and this was evident when he changed Alaska State Worker's Compensation law. He enjoyed time shooting trap, and gold mining. He especially liked fishing in Alaska with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Shanan (Eric) Blomskog of Palmer, Alaska; his son Mike Bohlmann of Colfax, WA; two grandchildren Emily & Lawrence Bohlmann; three sisters Carol (Larry) Mohler, Ruth (Les) Hiltz, Joyce Vold, and brother Frank (Alice) Bohlmann and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son Kerry Klay Bohlmann, Sisters; Ardella Gehrke & Aileen Johnson. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Glenhaven Adult Family Home and the wonderful Doctors and Nurses all of whom provided loving care and support to our father. No public services are planned. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.bruningfuneralhome.com
