Patricia M. Dobbins (80) died Dec. 31, 2016. Husband Thomas H. Dobbins (83) died Jan. 2, 2017. Pat & Tom were Moscow, ID residents and both passed away at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman, WA.
Pat was born March 21, 1936 in Tacoma, WA to Elmer & Florence (Carr) Lewellen. She grew up in Morton, WA until moving to Tacoma with her mother where she grew up and attended school. Pat met Tom H. Dobbins at Fort Lewis, WA where he was stationed with the US Army and they married on April 27, 1952 in Spokane, WA. She worked at Sacred Heart Medical Center as a nursing assistant and later for the Nalleys potato chip company.
Tom was born March 8, 1933 in Potlatch, ID to Harold & Margaret (O'Reilly) Dobbins. He grew up in Garfield, WA where he attended school. Tom entered the US Army and served during the Korean War. Following the couple's marriage in 1952 they located to Fort Ord until his honorable discharge. They moved to Spokane, WA where he began his career with the Army National Guard from which he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after 33 years.
The family moved to Moscow, ID where Tom went to work at the University of Idaho in Central Services and later retired again. They have made Moscow their home since that time. They enjoyed life to its fullest and were an unseperatable union, doing everything together. They spent their summers at the family home in Priest River, spending hours enjoying the outdoors, spending time with their family camping and fishing through the years. Tom in early years enjoyed bird hunting and Pat enjoyed bowling.
Together they were all about helping others in need both family and friends. Pat & Tom were always willing to go the extra mile for others. They indeed took the idea of "Paying It Forward" to new heights.
Pat and Tom are survived by their four daughters Barbara (Doug) Strong of Fernwood, ID; Lorrie (Terry) Appling of Spokane; Margaret Tower of Moscow; Tomi (Tommy) Andres of Potlatch; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition Patricia is survived by two sisters Frances Goff & Carol Simonson and a brother Gary Lewellen. Thomas is also survived by a sister Betty Paul. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with arrangements.
