Obituary

Tim Quade

August 28, 1942–March 30, 2025

Tim Quade, Dayton area resident, was found deceased at his home on Sunday, March 30, 2025. He had battled cancer in the recent past, and he passed away of natural causes. He was 82.

James Timothy Quade was born August 28, 1942 near Minneapolis, Minn., to Jay and Mable Quade. He was raised in Minnesota where his father owned and operated a commercial heating and cooling venture.

Tim began his empire building at a young age beginning with not one, but two, paper routes. He used to ride a horse to deliver his papers. Tim maintained a life-long love of horses and bought a horse of his own when he was still quite young. He became friends with men from the horse stable where he learned to groom and care for not only his horse but for others as well. These men taught Tim many lessons as he grew and matured around them. One of those lessons was in stock trading and Tim became very successful over the years in the stock market. Being very entrepreneurial; Tim also liked to buy homes and fix them up to "flip them" for a profit. He was very intuitive.

He did work for his dad's heating and cooling business for some time but soon realized he could do better by selling a ventless gas furnace that he had a patent for on his lunch hours. He went to college and earned his bachelor's degree and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. during the Vietnam era. He was trained as an MP and was stationed in San Diego, Calif. While in the Marines; one of his duties was to care for the horses on base. Tim loved this of course and further developed his love for horses. He had a soft and gentle spirit that seemed to communicate directly with the animal. The respect was mutual.

After his honorable discharge from the Marines; Tim worked as a stock broker for Merrill-Lynch. A while later he moved to Eugene, Oregon where he dabbled with race horses and the track. He still holds records in Washington and Oregon from his racing days. He was a licensed pilot and flew his own plane, he loved cars and his biggest passion of course were his horses. He was a very generous man with a huge heart. He gave to many causes over his life including high school scholarships and dog parks.

Tim was traveling through Dayton, Wash. one time when his car broke down. It gave him time to take in the town and he liked it so much he decided to stay. That was about 15 years ago. He has battled cancer three different times and through those trials his faith continued to grow. He attended Community Bible Church and enjoyed all the people there. He loved to travel and visited places all over the world. One of his favorite places was Ireland and he always spoke about the way they treated their horses over there. He played the guitar and was an Elvis Presley fan.

Tim was preceded in death by two brothers David and Stephen, and by his sister, Janet. He leaves behind his nephews, friends, and acquaintances.
