Timothy William Birr, longtime Colfax resident, passed away July 29, 2019 at his Colfax residence. He was 61. A potluck Celebration of Life will be held for Timothy at the Eagle's Club on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 2:00 - 7:00 PM. Timothy was born in Toledo, Ohio June 11, 1958 to John Joseph "Jack" Birr and Virginia May Fetter. When he was a baby the family moved to Pullman, Washington and later to Colfax where Timothy started school. He held early jobs at Rodgers Seed Company and Spokane Seed in Colfax but his true love was his farm labor jobs where he really felt he could connect with the people and the land. He was a master mechanic and could fix anything. He worked for Al Koenig around Colfax and did several jobs for Mary Ann Franz. He began working harvest for Kaye Engel out of Oakesdale one summer that turned in to thirty-one years. Tim developed a friendship with Mitch Engel and loved working for him. He loved to tinker with gadgets, liked to go fishing, and from a very young age he liked to be "fixing" things. It didn't matter if it was cars or clocks Tim could usually fix it. He was a long-time member of the Colfax Eagles and at an earlier age he belonged to the Jaycee's. Tim and his long-time friend Charlotte Reeves lived together in Colfax since 2002 and did many things together. In addition to Charlotte, Tim is survived by his siblings John Joseph Birr, Jr., Debbie Hall, and Jeanette Brownell; his step-father, William "Bill" (Ginny) Brownell; a step-brother and step-sister, Dan Brownell and Debby Brownell as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Tim is also survived by Charlotte's son, Shane Reeves, whom he thought of as a son. He was preceded in death by his parents.
