Virgil M. Danielson, LaCrosse resident, passed away Monday morning, May 6, 2013 at the Whitman Hospital. He was 91. A Memorial Service is being planned for a later date at the Fellowship Church in Spokane and will be announced by the family. Virgil was born January 3, 1922 in Ellsworth, Wisconsin to Adolph and Leona Danielson. He grew up in the Chehalis, Washington area and as a young man entered the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as a truck driver from 1942-1944 and upon being honorably discharged he returned to the Chehalis area and went to work in the fruit packing industry. He married Christine Wilhelm in Napavine, WA. December 11, 1958. They lived in many areas throughout Washington as Virgil moved from job to job as a logger and lumberjack. They came to Colfax in 1963 where he went to work for an aerial applicator and also as a mechanic at Elliott's Auto Shop on Main Street. He loved to hunt and fish but most important was spending time with his large family. Their stay in Colfax was fairly brief and following barber school in Yakima, the family settled in Spokane from 1968 to 1980. Virgil retired and they moved to LaCrosse in 1980. He is survived by his wife Christine, at home in LaCrosse; his children Sherri (Steve) Riddle, Chehalis, WA.; Larry Danielson, Chehalis; David Danielson, Fairfield, WA.; Craig Danielson, Endicott,; Rick (Karen) Danielson, Anacortes, WA.; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Danielson, Phoenix, AZ.; 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott in 2008, two brothers Orville and Kenneth and a sister, Margaret.
