VIRGINIA LEIGH (McMATH) NEILL, 90, of Pullman, passed away on December 23, 2015 at Bishop Place in Pullman, WA. She was born on January 9, 1925 to Ruth and John "Mac" McMath in Tacoma, WA and spent her childhood there. After graduation from Stadium High School, Ginny began a new adventure when she took the train to Pullman to attend WSC. On the journey, she met the first of her many lifelong friends. Shortly after arriving on campus, she pledged Pi Beta Phi sorority. She met her future husband when she invited shy Bob Neill to their Christmas dance. Just over a year later they were married on January 25, 1946. December turned out to be a very significant month as her two sons were born on Dec. 16, 1949 (Scott) and Dec. 6, 1950 (James). Ginny was very social and had a genuine sense of humor. Her father introduced her to golf when her boys were young and she enjoyed many friends through Pullman's Golf Club, PEO, and bridge groups. She also enjoyed WSU sports, traveling, and summers at Hayden Lake, ID. It was there that she got the news that her 1st grandchild was bringing along a sibling, and another came shortly after. Having 3 granddaughters gave her much pride and joy, and she and Bob were very involved in every aspect of their lives. She was very excited that her 7th great grandchild is on the way. Her legacy of love for her family and friends will live on in all of our hearts. Ginny was preceded in death by her husband Bob. She is survived by her sister, Janet Prentice of Seattle, WA; her sons and daughter-in-law's, Scott & Beverly Neill of Ocean Shores, WA and Jim & Marji Neill of Pullman, WA; her 3 granddaughters and 6 great grandchildren Heather Neill of Spokane, WA and her children James, Robert & Hannah; Jessica & Dan Alire of Seattle, WA (expecting a daughter in April); Molly & Brandon Courtney of Hillsboro, OR and their children Kylee, Byron & Ryder. A celebration of life will be held on January 9, 2016, at 11:00 am in the Independent Living Social Hall at Bishop Place. Private inurnment will take place at the Pullman Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made in her name to Neill Public Library.
