Webster Lincoln Kneass, II, passed away surrounded by family at his daughter's home in Pullman, Washington on November 15, 2019. He was 90 years old. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the RidgePointe Community Club House on Saturday, November 30 th , at Noon. Webster was born July 6, 1929 in San Francisco, California to Webster and Ruth Miller Kneass. Web's father was a ship builder in the Bay area and he grew up there with his younger brother Clifford. He graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City and shortly thereafter he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer during the Korean Conflict era. Web was honorably discharged as a Lt. in 1955. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He worked in the family ship building business, George Kneass & Sons Boatworks, (founded by his grandfather in 1868) for several years. He married Joan Carolyn Lewis in San Francisco on December 9, 1956. They made their home for many years in San Mateo County. Following the closure of the boat shop in 1970 they family moved to Spokane, Washington. They enjoyed spending quality time outdoors. Web was an avid hunter and fisherman and the family liked to go camping. He was a longtime member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid pinochle player and could spin stories for hours. While in Spokane Web owned and operated a Suzuki motorcycle sales and service shop on Sprague Avenue for several years. Later he became a successful real estate agent. They maintained their home in California over the years and moved back and forth some as the seasons changed; returning to Spokane just over three years ago to be closer to the kids. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan, in Spokane; daughters Nancy Kure and Carolyn Nordquist both of Pullman; and sons, Webster, III of Horseshoe Lake, WA. and Andrew Kneass of Chattaroy, WA.; 10 grandchildren, Ruthanna, Jesse, Christian, Daniel, Gunnar, Titus, Meleah, Jake, Blue and Sydney; and 4 great-grandchildren, Baylie, Noah, Mac and Lily. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford "Bud" Kneass and by his parents. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman is in charge of the arrangements.
