Obituary

Wendy Williams passed away, Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Pullman Regional Hospital.
She was born Sept. 16, 1952 in Spokane, Washington to William H. "Bill" Williams and Patricia (Malony) Williams.
She graduated from Spokane's Lewis and Clark High School (1970) and from Washington State University (B.A. 1976), and then attended the American Fencing Academy in Ithaca, New York. Between her junior and senior years at WSU she took time off to backpack around Europe and work six months as an au pair to a Spanish-speaking family in the Canary Islands. In 1986, Wendy moved to
Pullman to work as staff for the WSU Library System, retiring after 27 years.
A life-long seeker of spiritual enlightenment, she was an active member of the local Christian Science Society in Moscow, Idaho, where she participated in many capacities including soloist.
She loved a good cup of tea, listening to NPR with a cat on her lap, reading, music, movies, and long walks. While in Spokane she was a volunteer at the Civic Theater handling lights, props, and small roles. She was briefly married to James H. Bateman who she met at the theater. Wendy had an intelligent, upbeat, fun, and friendly soul and she kept a large circle of friends from K-12,
Camp Sweyolakan, college, her many travels abroad, church, and her work career. Many have said they will miss her joy-filled laugh.
Her parents are deceased.
She is survived by her stepmother, Ruth B. Williams, of Spokane; halfsiblings, Mary Williams (Chris McIntosh) of Flagstaff, Arizona, David Williams (Seanda) of Port Orchard, Wash., Jeffrey Williams, of Seattle, Wash., and Margaret Williams (Doug Marshall) and nieces, Emily and Hadley Marshall of Sand Point, Idaho; and many cousins including maternal cousins, Richard and Patricia Huggins, of Pullman, Wash., who considered Wendy a little sister. She was devoted to her pets, and leaves behind a dog, Katy, and cat, Charlotte.
An informal memorial service is planned for late July. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to a local humane society, National Public Radio station, or charity of your choice.
Following her instructions, cremation has already taken place and internment will be in the Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston, Idaho. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is handling arrangements, online condolences can be sent to www.Kimballfh.com.
