William James "Bill" Cotterill, 71, of Colfax, Washington passed away at his home on May 7, 2014. At Bill's request no formal services will be held. His urn will be buried at the cemetery in Duvall, Washington at a later date.
Bill was born on August 28, 1942 in Kirkland, Washington to Harry and Helen (Chamberlin) Cotterill. He grew up around the Redmond-Kirland area, graduating from Lake Washington High School with the class of 1960. He began working after high school before being drafted into the United States Army in 1964. He served for two years and was honorably discharged in 1966 and moved to Duvall, Washington in the late 1960's where he worked his whole career as a heavy equipment and truck mechanic for Cadman Gravel in Redmond.
Bill moved to Colfax in 2009 to be closer to his brothers. He was an excellent fisherman and enjoyed his time on the river. He was often known to help other, less experienced fishermen out with their lures and rigging and always had a story to tell them as he was doing it. After he quit drinking, he would still stop at the bar after work to play pool, except he would replace his normal drink with a Pepsi. This habit eventually earned him the nickname "Pepsi Bill"
Bill is survived by his brothers George Cotterill of Spokane and Rob Cotterill of Colfax. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions in Bill's honor may be directed to a charity of your choice.
