William J. Kinzer, 78 of Uniontown, WA died June 19, 2016 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, ID. Bill was born Oct. 24, 1937 in Colton, WA to Martin & Irene (Wittman) Kinzer. Growing up he attended St. Boniface School and Colton High School. Following graduation from high school he was drafted into the US Army in 1957 serving until his honorable discharge in 1959. He returned to the family farm where he went to work with his father. Bill married Juanita Busch on June 24, 1961 in Colton and they moved to the Wittman homestead in Uniontown where they have made the family home since that time. Bill farmed his entire life until his retirement, turning the operations of the farm over to his sons. He did enjoy driving combine and tractor in past years and being a part of the Lewis-Clark Antique Power Club.
Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always enjoyed time spent with family. He had many interests including antique tractors, old tools, and unique items from long ago. He enjoyed camping and vacations with family and friends, especially their trips to New Zealand, Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska. Through the years Bill was active on the Colton School Board, served as director of the Uniontown Co-Op, president of the Uniontown Community Center and was active with the Colton Education Foundation. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown, the Knights of Columbus, along with the Lewiston Elks Lodge. In addition he was a member of the Washington Wheat Growers and the Pea & Lentil Association. Bill was community-minded and always enjoyed attending Colton sporting events, and was also active in the annual Uniontown Sausage Feed.
Bill is survived by his wife Juanita at the family home outside Uniontown; his children Jeff (Lynette) Kinzer of Genesee; Diana (Marty) Stanton of Marysville; Roy (Cathy) Kinzer of Uniontown; WA; Jolene (Shane) Almeida of Leavenworth, WA; and Casey (Nikki) Kinzer of Spokane; along with his sister Karen Kinzer. Bill was a devoted grandfather of eleven grandchildren (Dustin, Bryce, Kyle, Kendra, Ethan, Elise, Grant, Addison, Cody, Brendan, Brady). He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Janis Whitcomb.
The Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Uniontown, WA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at St. Boniface. Vault interment will follow at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Uniontown. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, WA has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. The family suggests memorial donations to the St. Boniface Endowment Fund or to a favorite charity.
