William Edward Moore, 80, of Colfax WA, passed away on May 14, surrounded by his wife and children. Bill was born on December 21, 1942 to James and Clara Moore.
He was raised with his 3 siblings in the Palouse, and graduated from Lacrosse High School in 1960.
In 1966, Bill moved to Ephrata WA., where he worked for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation on the Grand Coulee Dam, until he lost his eyesight at the age of 32.
Once he was blind, Bill opened his own mechanic shop, and continued to work on all types of equipment throughout his life. His mechanical ability despite blindness was uncanny and several articles were published about his ability to overcome a handicap and enjoy his passion. He taught and passed this on to his son and grandson, and they all enjoyed many hours together in his shop, laughing, working, and once in a while telling tall stories.
Bill was baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1980.
In 1990, he bought a homestead near Colfax, and moved home to the area that he grew up in and truly loved.
In his senior years, He enjoyed running around Colfax, and surrounding area with his Wife, Carol, shopping for reclaimed wood, working in his shop, building all types of projects, and visiting with so many friends.
His is survived by his Mother, Clara 101 years, wife, Carol, daughter, Debby Sween, Son, Calen Moore, daughter, Brooke Moore, son, Martin Moore, step son, Christopher Kelly, Grandchildren, TJ Sween, Courtney Sween, Hope Moore, Grant Brocke, Wyatt Moore, Lacie Brocke, 4 Great Grandchildren, along with many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Camp and Ruth Martin, and Brother Ralph Moore. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 1:30 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Colfax followed by a graveside at the Hay cemetery.
