Obituary

Corky "Willis" Stephens, 88, passed away on January 3, 2019 in Spokane, Washington. Corky was born in Ewan, Washington on December 4, 1930 to Eugene and Edna Evans Stephens. He attended school in Ewan and shortly after he worked briefly before entering the United States Navy at age 18. He served between the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He married Mitzi Oswald, whom he shared four children with, which later ended in divorce. Corky worked on the railroad in Ewan briefly before working at Air Junction along the Snake River. After working for the railroad, he started work for Kaiser Aluminum where he worked for 28 years before retiring back in St. John in 1981. Corky loved to trap shoot and was very good at it. He golfed for many years and also loved to fish and hunt. Corky is survived by his five children; Sherree (Michael) Schneider of Mexico, Judy (Rich) Senkler of Chattaroy, WA, Eugene (Tish) Stephens of Spokane, WA, Jim (Tammy) Stephens of Coulee City, WA, and Shane Stephens of West Richland, WA; 11 grandchildren, Christopher Schneider, Carrie Peterson, Jennifer Beatty, Richard Senkler, Trace Stephens, Tyrell Stephens, Katie Walsh, Amy Baalaer, Faith Stephens, Grace Stephens, and Kail Stephens; numerous great-grandchildren; and by two siblings, Vernelle Stephens of Spokane, WA, and Jetty Carrick of Spokane, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. A graveside service will be held on January 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John Cemetery.
